The AOC (Active Optical Cables) portfolio offers a wide range of active cables with different options in terms of lengths and cables (OM3, OM4).

Featured Active Optical Cable

Different types of Active Optical Cable (AOC) are suitable for different applications and environments. We provide optical transceivers with different wavelengths and interfaces to meet customer needs.

10G QSFP-DD Transceiver

Sanopti's 400G QSFP56-DD transceivers are addressing the technical challenges of achieving high speed 400G interconnections. The transceivers have four optical lanes that operate at 100Gbps PAM4 modulation, providing solutions up to 400 Gbps.

25G SFP28 Transceiver

Sanopti’ s 25G SFP28 AOC (Active Optical Cables) portfolio offers a wide range of active cables with different options in terms of lengths and cables (OM3, OM4). It is the perfect solution to linked switches up to 100 meters.

25G SFP28 AOCs enable simpler cable management in high-density deployments which have a lower weight and smaller bend radius.

40G QSFP+ AOC Transceiver

Sanopti’ s 400G QSFP+ AOC (Active Optical Cables) is the perfect solution to linked switches up to 100 meters.

400G QSFP+ AOCs enable simpler cable management in high-density deployments which have a lower weight and smaller bend radius.

100G QSFP28 AOC Transceiver

Zkosemi's QSFP28 Active Optical Cables are fiber assemblies with QSFP28 connectors designed for direct-attach connections over Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF). These AOCs comply with hot-pluggable QSFP28 MSA and RoHS-6 standards, ensuring compatibility and adherence to environmental regulations. By offering a cost-efficient alternative to discrete optical transceivers and patch cables, these AOCs are ideal for establishing 100Gbps connections within racks and adjacent racks. Active optical cables provide a lightweight and slim alternative to copper cables, simplifying cable management.

100G QSFP28 to QSFP28 AOC Transceiver

Sanopti’ s 100G QSFP28 AOC (Active Optical Cables) portfolio offers a wide range of active cables with different options in terms of lengths and cables (OM3, OM4). It is the perfect solution to linked switches up to 100 meters.

100G QSFP28 AOCs enable simpler cable management in high-density deployments which have a lower weight and smaller bend radius.

For short distances applications, 100G QSFP28 DAC is a more cost-effective choice.

Active Optical Cable transceiver application scenarios

AOC cables, like DAC provide data rates of up to 800G with a similar range of transceivers available ranging from SFP+ to QSFP28. AOC cables are also available to support QSFP-DD.

AOCs tend to be used for connecting End of Rack (EoR) switches.

AOCs are available up to a fixed length of 100 metres, however, because they are thinner there can be a risk of damage and breaking at longer lengths, so AOCs tend to be used for distances in the 10s of meters, rather than 100. AOCs can also be used in environments with higher Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), as the signal is transmitted via light versus electrically, as in DACs.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled the frequently asked questions about our Active Optical Cable Transceivers. If you have other concerns, feel free to get in touch with our customer support. Our team of experts is always ready to assist.

What Is An Active Optical Cable?

An AOC (Active Optical Cable) is an optical cable with standard copper interfaces (such as HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, or USB) on each end. Each connector hood contains a small transceiver that converts electrical signals to optical, and then back on the other end. AOCs typically include copper wires in the cable as well, which provide power to the transceiver at the far end of the cable.

What Is The Difference Between Aoc And Optical Transceiver?

AOC active optical cable is an optical fiber with a module attached to each end, which is equivalent to a cable and a module. AOC active optical cable is also widely used by many customers, because its cost is cheaper than that of two separate modules plus one optical fiber.

How Fast Are Active Optical Cables?

The fastest it's possible to move data through a fiberoptic cable is somewhere in the Terabit or Petabyte range, depending on the implementation. Since Active Optical Cables are typically intended to replace a traditional copper wire connection, they only need to be as fast as the format they're replacing, which will largely depend on the chipset and transceiver used in the cable.

What Are Active Optical Cables Used For?

As most consumer electronics do not include any form of optical output, Active Optical Cables are the only way to take advantage of fiber's extended range. They can provide a lightweight and flexible long-distance connection for formats like HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, USB, and more. In commercial applications, AOCs are often used to connect servers in datacenters. Leaving optical transceivers out of the servers conserves on costs, and allows fiber to be used only where its range and resistance to interference are needed.

How To Choose The Product You Want?

From Wavelength

In fiber optics, wavelength is one of the biggest limiting factors. Wavelength will heavily influence a system's speed, coverage, compatible hardware, and other aspects of network design.

Sanopti offers three wavelengths to choose from. Please note:

·850nm signals can only propagate about 500m.

·1310nm signal can propagate 40 kilometers.

·The 1550nm signal can exceed 40 kilometers.

Consider Speeds

Speed is a major concern. When it comes to fiber optics, you can get networks that are incredibly fast, but they are not cheap. Likewise, if you are trying to save money, sacrificing speed is one of the easiest ways to lower costs. Here are different speeds for your reference:

·25 Gbps

·40 Gbps

·100 Gbps

·200 Gbps

What Should You Pay Attention To When Purchasing AOC Transceiver?

1.The optical module device will be encrypted to a certain extent to match with its own device. Inclusive manufacturers need to perform different inclusive matching on the optical module to perfectly solve the matching problem.

2.Service life: The service life of a normal optical module is 5 years, depending on the usage of the optical module in terms of time, if there is a problem in about 1 or 2 years, then it can be roughly judged that the The quality of the module itself has a problem Or a used module.

3.Optical module performance: The performance indicators that affect the optical module mainly include average transmitted optical power, extinction ratio, optical signal center wavelength, overload optical power, receiving sensitivity, and receiving optical power. By detecting whether these values are within the normal range The performance of the optical module can be judged. It can be viewed through DDM information. In addition, it can also be judged by whether the signal of the optical module is stable during transmission, whether there is delay, and whether there is packet loss.
