Featured 40G Optical Transceiver

Different types of 40G optical transceivers are suitable for different applications and environments. We provide optical transceivers with different wavelengths and interfaces to meet customer needs.

40G QSFP+ Transceiver

The QSFP+ optical transceivers are high-performance, economical modules that support a data rate of 40Gbps and a transmission distance of up to 10km with SMF.

The transceiver is comprised of three sections: 4 inputs channels (ch) of 10Gb/s electrical data to 4 CWDM optical signals, and multiplexes them into a single channel for 40Gb/s optical transmission; on the receiver side, the module optically de-multiplexes a 40Gb/s input into 4 CWDM channels signals, and converts them to 4 channel output electrical data; and MCU control unit. All modules comply with class I laser safety requirements.

The transceivers conform to 40GBASE-LR4 of IEEE802.3ba standard and SFF-8436 specification.

What are the common solutions for 40G networks?

At the core of the 40G network layer, a pair of optical modules are usually connected at both ends of a multimode optical fiber such as OM3 or OM4(Most common is 40G QSFP+ module) to form a solution. Most applications are in long distance transmission; High speed cables and active optical fiber are often used as an alternative to cost savings for optical modules and fiber, used in short distance interconnect applications.

How does the QSFP+ to SFP+ fiber convertor allow 4x 10G?

To enable 4x 10G connectivity, a QSFP+ to SFP+ fiber converter utilizes a breakout cable. This cable splits the 40G channel provided by the QSFP+ transceiver into four individual 10G channels, each connected to an SFP+ transceiver. Essentially, the converter breaks down the high-speed 40G signal into four separate 10G signals, allowing each SFP+ port to transmit data at 10G speeds. This configuration is beneficial for scenarios where equipment with SFP+ interfaces needs to communicate with a device equipped with a QSFP+ port, providing flexibility and compatibility in networking setups.

What is the maximum transmission distance of 40G optical module?

Its transmission distance is farthest up to 40KM. If different transmission distance, the application scenarios is also different scenarios.

What network is 40G module mainly used in?

QSFP-40G-SR4 optical modules are more often used in multi-mode applications, use for short distance connections for data center devices. It can be connected with the MTP/MPO jumper to realize the connection between the two 40G network devices, also can be used with MTP/MPO-LC patch cord to realize the connection between 40G nad 40G device. QSFP-40G-LR4 and QSFP-40G-ER4 module usually uses WDM technology to realize transmission of optical signals over long distance single-mode fibers.

What cable type is needed for the PLRL4 and PLR4 transceivers?

The FS PLR4 and PLRL4 transceivers require an Angle Polished Connector (APC) single-mode MTP-12 cable for optimal performance. This cable type is specifically designed to accommodate single-mode fiber connections and ensures reliable transmission over long distances. The MTP-12 connector is used to facilitate direct connections, and the APC type minimizes signal loss and reflections, crucial for single-mode fiber applications

What are the package types of 40G optical modules?

Package type of 40G optical module has CFP and QSFP+. Because of the large size of CFP, the package type of mainstream 40G optical module is QSFP+.

How To Choose The Product You Want?

From Wavelength

In fiber optics, wavelength is one of the biggest limiting factors. Wavelength will heavily influence a system's speed, coverage, compatible hardware, and other aspects of network design.

Sanopti offers three wavelengths to choose from. Please note:

·850nm signals can only propagate about 500m.

·1310nm signal can propagate 40 kilometers.

·The 1550nm signal can exceed 40 kilometers.

Consideration range

How far does the signal travel? When you choose a wavelength, you already consider some range, but there's more to the equation. The range of influence between single-mode (SMF) and multimode fiber (MMF) is quite large. Single-mode fiber has greater coverage but costs more, while multi-mode fiber has higher data rate capabilities and offers a price advantage.

What Should You Pay Attention To When Purchasing 40G Optical Transceiver?

1.The optical module device will be encrypted to a certain extent to match with its own device. Inclusive manufacturers need to perform different inclusive matching on the optical module to perfectly solve the matching problem.

2.Service life: The service life of a normal optical module is 5 years, depending on the usage of the optical module in terms of time, if there is a problem in about 1 or 2 years, then it can be roughly judged that the The quality of the module itself has a problem Or a used module.

3.Optical module performance: The performance indicators that affect the optical module mainly include average transmitted optical power, extinction ratio, optical signal center wavelength, overload optical power, receiving sensitivity, and receiving optical power. By detecting whether these values are within the normal range The performance of the optical module can be judged. It can be viewed through DDM information. In addition, it can also be judged by whether the signal of the optical module is stable during transmission, whether there is delay, and whether there is packet loss.
