200G optical transceivers

Sanopti's 200G QSFP56 portfolio consists of transceivers which can operate over Single-Mode Fiber (SMF) or Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF), can be used for connection distances from a couple of meters up to 2 kilometers and can support up to 212.5 Gbps data rate, thus 200G Ethernet application. 200GBASE-SR4 (PN: 200G-QSFP56-100) module is used for short distance interconnection (up to 100 meters with FEC) and have MTP/MPO 12 Connector, while 200GBASE-FR4 (PN: 200G-QSFP56-2.1) is used for connection distances up to 2 kilometers and have double LC connector.

Featured 200G Optical Transceiver

Different types of 200G optical transceivers are suitable for different applications and environments. We provide optical transceivers with different wavelengths and interfaces to meet customer needs.

200G QSFP56 Transceiver

200G QSFP56 modules are widely used in Mellanox, Intel Network cards, Arista, Huawei Data Center switches and other industry well known manufacturers equipment. 200G QSFP56 transceiver can work in 80% of networking equipment, where there is no special algorithm for protection against third party modules. However – we have accumulated expertise in custom-encoded firmware for 200G QSFP56 in order to make these modules work in almost any brand of equipment.

200G QSFP-DD Transceiver

The 200G QSFP-DD SR8 Transceiver is designed to transmit and receive serial optical data links up to 28 Gb/s data rate(per channel) over multi-mode fiber. It is a small-form- factor hot pluggable transceiver module integrated with the high performance VCSEL laser and high sensitivity PIN receiver. It is compliant with 100G Ethernet specs; QSFP-DD MSA. It also functions as a 2x100G QSFP-DD SR8 transceiver that supports 2x100G connections to two 100G QSFP28 SR4 transceivers using a MPO breakout cable.

200G optical transceiver application scenarios

One of the most typical applications for 200G QSFP56 modules is interconnecting two 200G QSFP56 modules to make 200G Ethernet link or to connect two 200G QSFP56 to 400G QSFP56-DD or 400G OSFP form factor modules in a breakout scenario. For 400G breakout to 2x200G typical would be 400GBASE-2FR4 breakout to 2 x 200GBASE-FR4 signals, or 400GBASE-SR8 breakout to 2 x 200GBASE-SR4 signals. Need to note that to be able to make 400GBASE-2FR4 breakout to 2 x 200GBASE-FR4, special CS patch cables are required as 400GBASE-2FR4 modules are equipped with double CS connectors.

What Are The Benefits Of Moving To 200g Technology?

Sanopti’ s 200G/port systems allow datacenters and high-performance computing environments to meet growing bandwidth needs at lower cost and power per gigabit. Key benefits include: ●Increase in bandwidth density by a factor of 2 when compared to 100G/port systems. ●Easy connectivity to compute nodes and Network Interface Cards (NICs) that use 50Gb/s PAM-4 per lane. NICs are transitioning from using 10G/25G SFP to 50G SFP ports, and from 100G QSFP28 ports to 100G-2 / 200G-4 QSFP56 ports. ●Upgrade leaf-to-spine links from 100G to 200G with no change to existing fiber plant. ●Reduce the number of optical fiber links, connectors and patch panels by a factor of 2 when compared to 100G/port platforms.

Are There Any Dual Speed 200g/100g Optics?

Yes. All Sanopti’s 200G QSFP transceivers and cables are dual-rate and can operate at 100G provided that the QSFP200 switch port that contains the transceiver is configured for 100G. In addition, when configured for 100G operation, Sanopti’s QSFP-200G-FR4 optically interoperates with a QSFP100G-CWDM4 transceiver, and Sanopti’s QSFP-200G-SR4 optically interoperates with a QSFP-100G-SR4/XSR4 transceiver. This allows one layer of the network (for example, the spine layer) to be upgraded to use 200G QSFP systems and optics while continuing to interoperate with already deployed 100G optics (at the leaf layer).

Are 200g Copper Cables Supported On All Switches With 200g Qsfp Ports?

Yes.

Can 100g Links Be Upgraded To 200g Links Without Changing Optical Fiber Type Or Connectors?

Yes, if the 100G links use either of the following types of fiber, then the links can be upgraded to 200G without changing any of the underlying fiber connectivity: ●Duplex single mode fiber with a max length of 2km, or ●Parallel multimode fiber, with a max length of 70m for OM3, or 100m for OM4 fiber. The QSFP-200G-FR4 uses the same fiber type and connectors (duplex LC UPC/PC, SMF) as all Sanopti 100G duplex SMF optics (such as 100G-CWDM4, 100G-LR4/LRL4, 100G-DR/FR/LR), enabling simple 100G-to-200G upgrade with no change to fiber plant or connectors, provided the fiber lengths are 2km or less. This is illustrated in the diagram below.

Can Sanopti 100g Qsfps Be Used In 200g Qsfp Switch Ports?

Yes, Sanopti 100G QSFP transceivers will be detected and enabled upon insertion into Sanopti switches. All Sanopti 200G QSFP ports are capable of being configured for 100G.

Can Sanopti 200g Qsfps Be Used In 100g Qsfp Switch Ports?

No – Sanopti 200G QSFPs should only be used in 200G QSFP ports, or QSFP-DD ports that are configured to operate in 200G mode.

How To Choose The Product You Want?

Form Factor

The small form-factor pluggable transceivers have derivated into multiple form factors. Sanopti's hot type include 200G types are QSFP56 and QSFP-DD. Transceivers with different form factors support corresponding speed. Check the equipment port types, choose a matching form factor.

From Wavelength

In fiber optics, wavelength is one of the biggest limiting factors. Wavelength will heavily influence a system's speed, coverage, compatible hardware, and other aspects of network design.

Sanopti offers three wavelengths to choose from. Please note:

·850nm signals can only propagate about 500m.

·1310nm signal can propagate 40 kilometers.

·The 1550nm signal can exceed 40 kilometers.

Consideration range

How far does the signal travel? When you choose a wavelength, you already consider some range, but there's more to the equation. The range of influence between single-mode (SMF) and multimode fiber (MMF) is quite large. Single-mode fiber has greater coverage but costs more, while multi-mode fiber has higher data rate capabilities and offers a price advantage.

What Should You Pay Attention To When Purchasing 200G Optical Transceiver?

1.The optical module device will be encrypted to a certain extent to match with its own device. Inclusive manufacturers need to perform different inclusive matching on the optical module to perfectly solve the matching problem.

2.Service life: The service life of a normal optical module is 5 years, depending on the usage of the optical module in terms of time, if there is a problem in about 1 or 2 years, then it can be roughly judged that the The quality of the module itself has a problem Or a used module.

3.Optical module performance: The performance indicators that affect the optical module mainly include average transmitted optical power, extinction ratio, optical signal center wavelength, overload optical power, receiving sensitivity, and receiving optical power. By detecting whether these values are within the normal range The performance of the optical module can be judged. It can be viewed through DDM information. In addition, it can also be judged by whether the signal of the optical module is stable during transmission, whether there is delay, and whether there is packet loss.
