1G Optical Transceiver Application Scenarios

A 1G SFP transceiver refers to a Small Form-factor Pluggable module that supports a data transfer rate of 1 gigabit per second (1Gbps). SFP modules are commonly used in networking devices such as switches, routers, and network interface cards to provide connectivity for different types of network media, including fiber optic and copper cables. The 1G SFP module allows for high-speed data transmission over short to medium distances, making it suitable for various network applications. These modules are hot-swappable, meaning they can be inserted or removed from a device without powering it down, providing flexibility and ease of maintenance in network installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled the frequently asked questions about our 1G Optical Transceivers. If you have other concerns, feel free to get in touch with our customer support. Our team of experts is always ready to

What are the types of Sanopti SFP transceivers?

Sanopti can provide six ypes of 1G Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) including Copper, Fiber, C/DWDM, Industrial, Fibre Channel, and BiDi Modules. You can get more information from Introduction to Sanopti Gigabit SFP Module Product Family.

What is the 1G BiDi transceiver?

The 1G BiDi transceiver is proficient in bidirectional data transmission and reception at a rate of 1 gigabit per second (1G) through the implementation of Bidirectional (BiDi) technology. By utilizing distinct wavelengths for transmission and reception, BiDi technology enables simultaneous data flow on a single fiber optic cable, optimizing existing infrastructure and reducing the need for additional cabling. It supports 1000BASE Ethernet connectivity for Fast Ethernet, Telecom, and Data Centers.

What are the application scenarios of 1G SFP transceivers?

The 1G SFP transceiver boasts remarkable efficiency with its ultra-low power consumption, making it an optimal choice for various networking environments, including Internet Service Provider (ISP) Gigabit Ethernet communication links. Additionally, its compatibility extends to Enterprise LAN & SAN Networks and Data Center LAN & SAN Networks, where its hot swappability ensures seamless integration.

What are the features and benefits that Sanopti 1G SFP transceivers can offer?

Sanopti 1G SFP transceivers help service providers or enterprises to facilitate high-speed data transmission, and enhance network efficiency at lower cost and power.

How long is the warranty period for Sanopti 1G SFP transceivers?

The warranty offered on our optical modules is 3 years. The warranty only covers defects that occur during normal use; it does not cover malfunctions or failures caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, alteration, electrical power issues, non-compliance with product instructions, acts of nature, or improper installation, operation, or repairs performed by anyone other than Sanopti or an Sanopti authorized service provider. Please see Sanopti Products Warranty for further information.

Are 1G SFP optics compatible with SFP+ ports at reduced speeds?

The compatibility between 1G SFP modules and 10G SFP+ ports is model-dependent. Typically, SFP+ slots can accommodate SFP modules, albeit at a slower rate of 1Gb. In specific instances, SFP+ port utilization might require a system reboot or specific input commands to achieve faster performance. Note that SFP+ ports do not support speeds less than 1G and aren't compatible with 100BASE SFP modules.

How To Choose The Product You Want?

From Wavelength

In fiber optics, wavelength is one of the biggest limiting factors. Wavelength will heavily influence a system's speed, coverage, compatible hardware, and other aspects of network design.

Sanopti offers three wavelengths to choose from. Please note:

· 850nm signals can only propagate about 500m.

· 1310nm signal can propagate 40 kilometers.

· The 1550nm signal can exceed 40 kilometers.

Know Your Environment

Fiber networks operate in all kinds of environments. A data center is substantially different from an outdoor monitoring network, and neither has much in common with an industrial production facility.

So, are your fiber cables running through walls? Do they lay under the ground? Or, are they just running from one device to another in the same room? How hot does it get? Are there corrosive elements? Are you worried about dust or water?

There are many environmental concerns, and you need to address them all. The biggest factor being temperature rates, which are subdivided into two working temperature ratings:

· Commercial transceivers – basic operating temp: 0 - 70° C

· Industrial transceivers – basic operating temp: -40 – 85° C

What Should You Pay Attention To When Purchasing A 1G Optical Transceiver?

1.The optical module device will be encrypted to a certain extent to match with its own device. Inclusive manufacturers need to perform different inclusive matching on the optical module to perfectly solve the matching problem.

2.Service life: The service life of a normal optical module is 5 years, depending on the usage of the optical module in terms of time, if there is a problem in about 1 or 2 years, then it can be roughly judged that the The quality of the module itself has a problem Or a used module.

3.Optical module performance: The performance indicators that affect the optical module mainly include average transmitted optical power, extinction ratio, optical signal center wavelength, overload optical power, receiving sensitivity, and receiving optical power. By detecting whether these values are within the normal range The performance of the optical module can be judged. It can be viewed through DDM information. In addition, it can also be judged by whether the signal of the optical module is stable during transmission, whether there is delay, and whether there is packet loss.
