ESD damage can lead to poor performance of the Optical Transceiver, while optical port contamination and damage can cause the optical link to fail.
Main Courses
Below are the causes of optical port pollution and damage:
1.The optical interface of the Optical Transceiveris exposed to the environment, and the optical interface is polluted by dust entering.
2.the end face of the fiber optic connector has been contaminated, and the optical interface of the Optical Transceiveris contaminated twice.
3.the end face of the optical connector with pigtail is not used properly, such as: end face scratches and so on.
4.the use of poor quality fiber optic connectors.
How to effectively protect the Optical Transceiver failure, the method is mainly divided into two kinds of ESD protection and physical protection.
Operating Instructions
1.The Optical Transceivermust be in the anti-static package during transportation and transfer before use, and must not be taken out or placed arbitrarily.
2, before contacting the Optical Transceiver, must wear anti-static gloves and anti-static hand ring, installation of optical devices (including Optical Transceivers) must also do a good job of anti-static measures.
3.Test equipment or application equipment must have a good grounding wire.
Note: It is strictly prohibited that for the convenience of installation, the Optical Transceiver is taken out from the anti-static package and stacked randomly without any protection, as if it were a waste recycling station.
Physical protection
The internal laser and temperature control circuit (TEC) of the optical module is relatively fragile, easy to break or fall off after receiving an impact, so attention should be paid to physical protection during transportation and use.
Optical port stained with a clean cotton swab can be gently wiped, non-specialized cleaning rod may cause damage to the optical port, cleaning cotton swabs used with too much force may lead to metal in the cotton swabs scratched ceramic end surface.
Insertion and extraction of optical modules are designed to simulate manual operations, as are push and pull forces, and instruments should not be used during installation and removal.
Operating instructions
1.Pay attention to the application of the Optical Transceiverto be gently handled and put down, and to prevent it from falling down.
2.When inserting the module into the Optical Transceiver, push it in with your hands, and do not use any other metal tools to do so; when pulling it out, open the pulling ring to the unlocking position and then pull it out, and do not use any other metal tools to do so.
3.Use a dedicated cleaning rod for cleaning the optical port, and do not use any other metal substances to insert into the optical port.
